A Comparative Analysis on the Mathematics Questions in OKS, SBS and TIMSS Under the Lens of MATH Taxonomy
Abstract :
Mathematics is one of the main subjects all through the education process from elementary school to university. And because of this it is one of the main subjects in national exams such as OKS, SBS, YGS, and it is one of the most important courses in determining students’ success. In this research mathematics questions in the wide ranged exams OKS, SBS and TIMSS were analised acording to MATH (Mathematical Assessment Task Hierarchy) taxonomy. One of each of the exams OKS, SBS and TIMSS were taken and mathematics questions in them taken into consideration and a cross analysis was made using MATH taxonomy and the findings were discussed. The findings show that SBS-6 has more questions in the category of “knowledge transfer”, SBS-7 has more “routine prosedures”, SBS-8 has both “knowledge transfer” and “routine prosedures”, OKS has “adoptation to new situations” and TIMSS has “routine prosedures”.
