Abstract :
Although swallowing coin is very frequently seen in children, it is unusual to remove it without any reason. A 8 years-old boy was referred to us for epigastric pain for one year. He had been examined by physician and a radio-opaque appearence probably due to coin had been shown in the plain film at that time. The patient has not applied to any hospital for precise diagnosis and treatment because of socioeconomic reasons. Physical examination was normal except epigastric tenderness. Laboratory analysis were normal. There was a round radio-opaque foreign body possibly due to coin in direct graphy. The gastrointestinal endoscopy was revealed a mobil coin covered aggreated blood and gastric ingredients at the intersection of antrum and corpus. The coin was removed without complication and his symptom was disappeared after the intervention. We think that coin swallowed should be considered in children with chronic epigastric pain.
