Abstract
One of the important changes brought by the Turkish Commercial Code (Law No.6102) is about the carriage of passengers by sea. The new Turkish Commercial Code has adopted the Athens Convention relating to the Carriage of Passengers and their Luggage by Sea (2002) which contains contemporary provisions for the improvement of the carriage of passengers. This article focuses on the legal nature of the contract, parties of the contract, obligations and liabilities of the parties, liability for damage suffered by the passengers, compulsory insurance and time limits of the contract.
