Abstract
One of the major discussion topics on criminal law has been euthanasia. According to medical context, euthanasia means intervention undertaken with the intention of ending a life, to relieve intractable suffering caused by an incurable illness. Euthanasia which is discussed all around the world and became legal in Holland (than Belgium). But in our country euthanasia has not been discussed enough,, in the past and nowadys yet..Eeuthanasia has been discussed very little in Turkey, but it seems as if it will be discussed a lot in the future. Euthanasia is a subject which causes dilemmas and problems in ethics and should be considered and discussed within every detail. The aim of this study is to displaye how euthanasia is taken into consideration in European, especially in German, Austria and Swiss law systems. Additionally, after having studied the judicial legislations abuot Euthanasie in Europe and the USA, it is emphasized that the present legislation in our country, especially Turkish Criminal Code which has been valid since 2005 and the Turkish Regulations for Deontology which has been valid since 1960, should be modified in the western direction in order to keep up with the developments in the west.
