Scope and Content of the Act on Health and Safety at Work
Abstract :
Law No. 6331 concerning Health and Safety at Work entered into force as of January 1st, 2013. The scope of the law is initially limited to workplaces, where fifty or more workers are employed. The law in question has abandoned the term “employee”, which is a basic concept in Turkish labor law and instead embraces a new concept, i.e. “worker”, with the objective of including as many people as possible within its scope. However the current number of administrative staff at the Ministry of Labor and Social Security seems to be inadequate to inspect such a large number of people falling into the scope of application.
