Relations of Religion and State in Ongoing Constitution and The Principle of ‘Laicité’
Abstract :
The concept of laicite1 has emerged as a result of debutes about a peaceful solution of the relationship between state and religion. In the past, policies that resemble laicisme resulted in different thougts about laicite. Laicite, within its universial meaning, is a way to make sure that people live in peace and harmony with a government mechanism which considers individuals and ideologies equal, abolishes, discrimination, does not insist on “the good” and does not externalize. An establishment of a state in the frame of a religion or sect can cause a process where other religions or sects to be prohibited. This fact and experience have shown us that a laicite that is acceppted in its universial meaning even for religious freedoms is one of the most important solutions for social peace. Laicite, is a comprimising legal concept which enables all members of the societies to live with their own good and right without denying thecultural codes of the societies.
