TEACHING STYLES OF TURKISH LANGUAGE TEACHERS
Abstract :
The studies in education for success and quality have revealed the individual differences. There are some differences in individual and educational skills of teachers who are among the basic elements of education system. Considering these differences is essential for the success and quality in education. This study aims to determine the states of Turkish language teachers regarding their possession of teaching styles and evaluate them according to some variables (gender, seniority in the profession, and the last graduation programme) and the views of students. The study used screening model from descriptive research patterns. The study sample consisted of 79 Turkish Language teachers randomly chosen among the ones serving in Trabzon, Ordu, Giresun and Erzurum Provinces in 2010-2011 education period. The data were acquired through information form, teaching styles scale and student interview form. It was concluded from the obtained data that Turkish Language teachers mostly had Instructive (Guide) and Individual teaching styles and in addition, Expert teaching style was rather low.
