Abstract :
In the globalizing world, one of the most important issues that the societies are facing is the problem of protecting the culture and the identities of their generations to come. Each society is to introduce and convey its cultural savings of the past, in order to be able to carry on with its existence. In our world, where it is impossible to build a future free of social and cultural facts, the prominence of the historical works has ever increased. In our day, petroglyphs, bengü stones (stones with figures, markers and inscriptions) kurgans, mausoleum complexes, archeological findings, settlement ruins and similar historical works in the Turkish cultural geography, from Siberia and Mongolia to Anatolia, from Anatolia to Europe, are extremely important within the Turkish culture and civilization. Such works that contain the development and alteration phases of the Turkish culture in themselves, are leading among the cultural codes that link between the period when they were created and our day. Such works, majority of which belong to the common past of Turkish identity have a prominent input in the formation of Turkish cultural identity and development of collective thought in the society. Therefore, it is necessary to introduce, and convey these works, each of which is a social and cultural “value”, to the future generations, and to add its social and cultural influences to the lives of individuals, by means of the education programs and the help of the teachers. The objection of this study is to develop a behavior measure regarding the old Turkish works. For this purpose, a 17 issue measure device is prepared as per the sensual area taxonomy. Measuring device was applied to the 272 candidate teachers, who study at different departments related with social sciences in Atatürk University, Kâzım Karabekir Faculty of Education. Factor analysis technique was applies to the obtained values, and reliability coefficient was calculated. With the obtained findings, it is determined that the issues in the measuring device and the samples are suitable and sufficient for the factor analysis. At the conclusion of the data analysis, the measuring device was transformed into a single factor that elucidates the 48 % of the total variance. The factor loads of the issues in the measuring device vary between 0.542 and 0.820; and the common factor variances (excluding issue 6) between 0.368 and 0.673. The reliability coefficient of the measuring device is calculated as 0.93. As a result, it may be stated that this measuring device developed, may, in different contexts, be used as a reliable and valid measuring device, in order to determine the behaviors regarding the Old Turkish Works (ETE).
