Abstract
Idioms play an important role in the vocabulary of a language in terms of the briskness, fluency and the richness that they add to the expressions. In this study, the non-literary idioms of Elazığ dialect is dealt with “afur küfür et-”, “cecügü gevşe-”, “degirmeni gitmiş şakşağını ara-”, “eren peren et-”, “gıcımılik gir-” etc. The idioms which are taken from the texts of the dialect-studies on the afore-mentioned Elazığ dialect and from Derleme Sözlüğü are evaluated with respect to origion, structure, meaning and syntax.
