Abstract :
The purpose of this study is to set forth the value tendencies of the students at the college of education of Gazi University, in Ankara and to examine them in terms of different variables. In this study, 432 students from various departments, 326 of whom are female and 106 of whom male, participated. As data collection tools Schwartz Value Scale developed by Kuşdil and Kağıtçıbaşı, personal information and value expression forms were used. In this survey model research qualitative and quantitative data collection instruments and techniques were used. At the end of the research, it was found that students value tendencies according to gender differ in the sub-scales of benevolence, stimulation, conformity and security, that the stimulation tendencies of male students was higher than the females’, the benevolence, conformity and security tendencies of female students were higher than the male’s. When the relationship between students’ class levels and value tendencies was examined the points gained through the sub-scales of traditionalism and universalism differ, and when their value tendencies were examined according to the schools they graduated from, the points gained through the sub-scales of universalism, conformity and security differ. Moreover, in this study, students were also asked open-ended questions to see the values most important to them, and the results were organized.
