Abstract :
Words of dictionary elements such as derivational affixes of verbs and other deduction affixes are constituted out of verbs. However, even though they are analyzed under the same title, there are affixes with functions of syntax rather than dictionary meanings. These affixes known as ‘voice suffixes’ organize the elements of agents in a sentence, make contributions to the meaning, change the structure of the sentence and named according to their functions in relation to those activities. There is not a complete coherence in the denotation of the terms related to the voice. Transitive and causative are two terms dealing with this inconsistency. Questions such as “Do both of the terms mean the same thing? If so, why is there a need of two different terms? Could one of them be the subtitle of the other?” can be answered in accordance with the meanings and functions of the aforementioned suffixes that they obtain in a sentence. In this study, it has been discussed the necessity of separate analysis of these terms used in different meanings and functions in terms of the concept of voice.
