THE TRADITION OF A DISSAPPEARING MATERIAL CULTURE: TAKUNYACILIK IN BURSA
Abstract :
Handicrafts reflect the cultural heritage of our society. The handicrafts that require patience and skill and the masters who deals with them are dying away. In this study, information about the takunyas made by Günay family in inegöl county of Bursa, who strives to keep takunyacılık (a handicraft that has been transferred from father to son) alive, shall be given. The topics about the production stages of takunyas, the materials and tools that being used in production, the types and the prices of the products, the legendary founder of the profession, profit and gain, the relationship with the local tradesmen and the ways to improves the profession shall also be dealt with. This study is done according to qualitative research methods and the knowledge that was obtained through interviews are related.
