THE PLACE OF ZAFER HANIM AND AŞK-I VATAN IN TURKISH LITERATURE
Abstract :
The first novel experiment in Turkish Literature is Taaşşuk-ı Talat ve Fitnat of Şemsettin Sami. However, the first example of literary novel is considered İntibah of Namık Kemal. In Tanzimant period, along with men, women also gave examples of novel. Zafer Hanım was one of the female writers of the period. This research is focused on Aşk-ı Vatan (The Love of Motherland) which was a novel that was published in 1877. This study, which is an example of qualitative research, searches the answers for two questions; is Zafer Hanım the first female novelist of Turkish Literature and what is the place of Aşk-ı Vatan in our literary history.
