BELIEF AND TRADITIONS IN KASTAMONU FOLKTALES
Abstract :
Belief and traditions which are the remarkable components of the folklore reflect the cultural life and at the same time carry the traces of the belief systems of the various times of societies, and those aspects make them more and more important. Traditions and beliefs that take an active part in the constitution of the social structure have a significant power of enforcement in the embodiment of human behaviours. Folktales which have also highly oral narration characteristics contain traditions and beliefs which have influence in every phase of human life (birth, marriage, death, etc.) and therefore have reflections on the oral culture. In this paper, 75 Folktales which takes place in the study named as “Kastamonu Folktales (Research-Examining-Text)” will be handled by finding the traditions and customs and then classifying them under five main titles.
