Abstract :
The purpose of this study was to examine whether Life Satisfaction (LS) level is affected by gender, marital status, age and education level and the relation between Emotional Intelligence (EQ) and LS of the participants of trekking. The sample group is illdefined in Turkey and electronic questionnaire forms has were sent to all members of outdoor sport clubs tied to the Turkish Mountaineering Federation. The sample group consisted of 280 male and 102 female, in total 382, participants. In this study; the LS Scale developed by Diener, E., Emmons, R. A., Larsen, R. J., Griffin, S. (1985) and the EQ Scale developed by Chan (2004; 2006) were used. In the processing of data, the descriptive statistic, Kruskal Wailles and Mann-Whitney U test were used. Results have been assessed according to significant level of 0.01 and 0.05. As a results of this study; a positive correlation was found between LS and four dimensions ofEQ: using emotions positively (P=0.211, p 0.01), positive emotional management (P=0.141, p 0.01), emphatic sensitiveness (P=0.278, p 0.01), emotional assessment (P=0.111, p 0.05). In addition; the increase in LS does not undergo a change in respect to gender, marital status or age, but education level affects LS. Additionally; as EQ increases, LS level also increases. Especially, this is clear in single, aged 24 and less men and well educated participants.
