  • Abstract
Cryptococcus neoformans is the most common causative agent of cryptococcosis. Decaying tree trunk hollows as an environmental source for Cryptococcus neoformans has been reported by many investigators. Colonization in Platanus orientalis (Oriental plane) has been previously reported from Denizli city center. In this study, one hundred oriental plane trees have been periodically sampled by swabbing technique during eight months. Simplified Staib agar has been used for culture. No C.neoformans has been isolated in spring-summer sampling period. These finding suggest that the previously yeast isolation is a transient colonization.
