Quality of Life in Mothers of Children With Duchenne Muscular Dystrophia and Attention Defi cit Hyperactivity Disorder

The aim of this study is to analyze the quality of life of mothers of children with Duchenne muscular dystrophy (DMD) and attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD). Participants of this study were; 16 mothers of children with DMD, 19 mothers of children with ADHD, and 28 mothers of healthy children. WHOQOL-BREF Scale and demographic information questionnaire were given to all mothers. The physical and psychological health subscale scores of WHOQOL-BREF Scale were significantly lower in mothers of children with DMD when compared to control groups. The Physical health subscale scores of WHOQOL-BREF Scale were significantly lower in mothers of cildren with ADHD when compared to control groups. There were no significant differences between mothers of children with DMD and mothers of children with ADHD in terms of subscale scores of WHOQOL-BREF Scale. Results suggest that life quality of mothers of children with ADHD are influenced negatively like mothers of DMD.
