Abstract :
Mayyafāriqīn is the former name of Silvan, Diarbakr. Mayyafāriqīn is a political and cultural center of medieval Islamic world. The city, as one of the most important centers of historical Jazīra, was the capital of Marwanids and more flourished than Amid (Diarbakr) in some periods. There were several names used to indicate the city during its history, like Martyropolis, Meyyāfāriqīn, Mefāriqīn, Farqīn, Silvan. In this article, we’ll examine that names and analyze the name of Mayyafāriqīn.
