Title Of Article :
The Dark Age of Turkish History
Abstract :
It is difficult to say that current studies are not enough for the early period of Turkish history. Especially, debates on the urheimat of Turks have still been ongoing. In this term, studies on the plant and animal names in the regions where the early or proto-Turks were to live gains great significance. Linguistic surveys for those names and for relevant interactions with other languages would put light upon the lands where early Turks inhabited. Relations between Turkish and Mongolian and the Ural-Altaic Theory should be viewed comprehensively. The results produced by the Eurocentric historiography should be squeamishly reconsidered and compared with the results of new studies. Interdisciplinary studies are of great importance in order to elucidate early Turkish history.
