Abstract :
Jelali revolts were a series of important events that caused serious damage especially in Ottoman Anatolia and eastern provinces in the 16th and 17th centuries and these revolts led the Ottoman Empire into serious troubles as a result of internal and external political events. There are a lot of sources about the reasons of the revolts, their development process, Ottomans’ efforts to suppress them and their results. Almost all of these sources include the destruction in the Ottoman territory caused by the Jelali interregnum; however, the finance of the campaign conducted by Murat Pasha to suppress the revolt is not included. The main purpose of this study is to clarify how the Jelali campaign, which was an internal campaign organization since it was conducted to suppress an internal revolt, was financed. In addition, this study aims to clarify, to what extent the financial sources were used in Anatolia /campaign territories that was demolished during the Jelali revolts. While trying to find answers to these questions, income and expenditure status during the campaign will be presented. In order to find the answers to the above mentioned questions, primary sources will be the records of army treasury of the Jelali campaign.
