An investigation on the adaptability of some new perennial ryegrass (Lolium perenne L.) cultivars in turf areas under coastal part of aegean region conditions
Abstract :
In this study, to determine the performances of some new six perennial ryegrass cultivars (Ballet, Greenway, Greenfair, Numan, Belida ve Leon) were grown in the experimental fields of Field Crops Department of Agriculture Faculty, Ege University, between 2005-2007 years. Some properties such as cover rate, number of tiller, colour, tissue, persistency, visiual turfgrass quality were tested. Considering two years results, it was concluded that Ballet and Greenway cv. were most successful cultivars among the Lolium perenne material tested and displayed a very high adaptability to region.
