Determination of chemical extraction methods alternative to modified 1N NH4OAc method used for the measurement of available potassium contents in grape soils of alaşehir and salihli regions

Abstract
This research was undertaken with the aim of studying to determine the most suitable alternative method or methods to the modified 1N NH4OAc which is used in determining the available potassium contents of grape soils in Alaşehir and Salihli which are the two important grape production centers of Turkey. In order to accomplish the objective, modified 1N NH4OAc method was correlated with 10 different chemical methods and compared economically. Soil samples were taken at 0-25 cm depth from 40 different grape soils in Alaşehir and Salihli. Some of the chemical and physical properties of these soils were analyzed. Results showed that, the highest and significant correlation between the studied chemical extraction and modified 1N NH4OAc methods was 0.3M (NH4)2SO4 for Salihli soils and 0.5M (NH4)2SO4 for Alaşehir soils. These two specified methods were also economic.
