Studies on the effects of some tobacco varieties on the biology of Myzus persicae (Sulz.) (Hom.: Aphididae)
Abstract :
The effects of Akhisar 97, Ege 97 and Sarıbağlar 407 tobacco varieties which commonly grown in the Aegean region has been observed in this study. For this purpose, the effects of the varieties to the nymphal development time; survival rate; preoviposition, oviposition and postoviposition period; longevity and reproduction of M. persicae have been revealed. For experiments, 26±1ºC, 65±5 % relative humidity and 16 h light 8 h dark conditions were kept constant in an air conditioned room. Evaluations introduce that M. persicae completed development process in a minimal time on Ege 97 with a day of 5.27. This development process continued on Sarıbağlar 407 and Akhisar 97 6.47 and 6.70; respectively. On Ege 97, individuals has been % 93.33 of adult, this rate has been % 80 on Sarıbağlar 407 and % 73.33 on Akhisar 97. M. persicae completed oviposition period in a minimal time on Sarıbağlar 407 with 13.48 days. This oviposition period on Ege 97 and Akhisar 97 was 13.70 and 13.75 days; respectively. While the longest longevity was viewed as 20.18 days on Ege 97, the highest number of offspring was determined as 73.41 individuals in the same variety. As a conclusion, Ege 97 is the most convenient for the biology of the insect compared to the other two varieties and Akhisar 97 is the least convenient one out of the three has been revealed.
