Abstract :
This study was undertaken Bağyurdu district of Kemalpaşa- Izmir, where inte his study was carried out in Manisa which has the largest vineyard areas and grape production of Turkey. In this research, effects on food safety of pesticides were investigated. Main data of the study was collected by contingent valuation survey from 117 grape growers which are settled in Manisa province. Probable effective variables on food safety and pesticide preference of growers were determined. Logit model results indicated that grower age, raisin producers, cost/revenue ratio and supporter of pesticides harmful to human health were all important variables on environment friendly pesticide preference levels of growers. Tobit model was used and education level, viticulture experience, possession of more than 4 hectare vineyard, supporter of pesticides harmful to human health and supporter of pesticides harmful for environment were determined as effective variables on willingness to pay extra money for getting food safety by environment friendly pesticides. 70% of the respondents were willing to pay extra money for environment friendly pesticides program instead of conventional pesticides. Average WTP was calculated 239.3 TL per hectare for Manisa grape growers.
