Abstract :
In this study, effects of various seedling types and growing media on fruit quality criteria (fruit inner and outer color L, C and H; the rupture of calyx, fruit width, fruit length, pulp, pulp hardness, TSS, acid, C vitamin and pH) in strawberry (Fragaria×ananassa Duch) cultivation with greenhouse soilless culture are examined. In the trial, plug and frigo seedlings are tried as seedling type; and peat (T), perlite (P), cocopeat (H), volcanic tuff (V) and the combinations of these are tried as growing media. As a result of the study, while the values vary based on the trial years and growing media, fruit outer color L value varies between 25.69 and 32.36; C value between 28.36 and 41.63; H value between 1.35 and 2.33; fruit inner color L value varies between 41.28 and 53.03; C value between 39.16 and 49.35 and H value between 0.93 and 1.24. The rupture resistance of calyx, pulp hardness, fruit width and length, TSS values in frigo seedling are detected to be higher than plug seedling. Moreover, there are no big differences between seedling types in terms of titratable acidity, vitamin C and pH values. In the trial, there are no differences detected among growing media in terms of rupture resistance of calyx and pulp hardness. While average fruit length, fruit width and TSS values are the highest in H+V media, the lowest in V and P media. Titratable acidity, C vitamin and pH amount do not differ greatly according to growing media. In 2006-2007 trial year, a negative correlation between the pulp hardness and TSS is determined and a positive correlation between TSS and C vitamin is determined. In 2007-2008 trial year, a negative correlation is determined only between TSS and titratable acidity. As a result of study, frigo seedling is favorable in terms of seedling type, and H and H+V medias are favorable in terms of growing media.
