Abstract
In this study, anthropogenic pressures on the protected municipal sites within the boundary of Konak town in Izmir city are examined by comparing different years. The present status and changes in Kemaraltı, Konak Square and its vicinities between 1987, 1997 and 2005 were determined by using aerial photos and satellite images. The obtained data and results were used to form constructive proposals. According to study results, in the historical centre of Kemeraltı, no change was found while in Konak Square and its vicinity has expanded in area by approximately 41% in the years 1987- 2005.
