Title Of Article :
Determination of some agronomic and technologic characteristics of improved Turkish Oregano (Origanum onites L.) clones under different ecological conditions
Abstract :
In this study conducted in Bornova and Dikili locations during 2002-2003 years with 14 different Origanum onites L. clones collected from the flora of Western and Southwestern Anatolian that improved with clonal selection, drug leaf yield, essential oil and carvacrol contents were determined. The trial was established as a randomized complete block design with three replications in Ege University, Agricultural Faculty, Field Crops Department research area in Bornova and Makaron Farm in Dikili. In the first year, the average of drug leaf yield was determined 232.51 kg/da in Dikili location while it was 184.6 kg/da in Bornova and in the second year, it was determined 646.4 kg/da in Dikili location while it was 813.1 kg/da in Bornova. In the first year, the averages of essential oil content were stated 3.45% in Bornova location and 2.58% in Dikili location. In the second year, the averages of essential oil content were found 4.50% in Bornova location and 3.96% in Dikili. The averages of carvacrol content were determined in the first year as 82.17% in Bornova location and 84.61% in Dikili location. In the second year, the averages of carvacrol content were found 90.94% in Bornova location and 92.48% in Dikili. Thus, in both years of the trial, the average of drug leaf yield and essential oil contens were found higher in Bornova location and carvacrol content was found higher in Dikili location.
