Abstract :
Although there are several studies to investigate essential oil rate and composition of plants belonging to Achillea millefolium group in Turkey, there are no researches on agricultural practice. Adaptation to field condition, determination of yield and quality parameters, selecting of high yielding genotypes originated from Bulgaria, and investigating of interaction of these parameters with essential oil amount and composition of two subspecies A. asplenifolia and A. collina originated from Bulgaria which are commercially important medicinal plants worldwide, another two subspecies A. millefolium subsp. millefolium and A. millefolium subsp. pannonica originated from Turkey and commercial cultivar Proa were aimed in this study. For this purpose, a field experiment was conducted in Bornova location for two years. The results were suggested that species belonging to A. millefolium group and different populations of these species differed in investigated parameters, some populations had three harvests in first year and two harvests in second year. Average green herbage yield ranged between 1220 and 20700 kg/ha in first year, 2172 and 24564 kg/ha in second year, drug herbage yield varied between 511 and 6717 kg/ha in first year, 804 and 7827 kg/ha in second year, drug flos yield ranged between 3210 and 4975 kg/ha in first year, 479 and 2859 kg/ha in second year, essential oil rate differed between 0.15 and 0.44 % in first year, 0.27 and 0.78 % in second year.
