Title Of Article :
An Investigation on the Effect of Diffrent Soil Textures on the Grain Yield and Compononets of Some Maize (Zea mays L.) Cultivars Under Mediterranean Climate Conditions
Abstract :
The effects of two soil textures (heavy and light) on the grain yield and some yield components of four different maize (£T-1, Helen, C-955, Brasco) cultivars were evaluated under Mediterranean climatic conditions of Bornova and Odemi$ location of Izmir in 2005 and 2006. The experimental design was a randomised complete block with three replications. Some traits such as duration of tasseling, plant height, number of row per ear, number of ear per plant, ear diameter, ear lenght, grain yield and thousand kernel weight were tested in the experiment. Results indicated that there is no significant differences between maize cultivars in terms of grain yields. The grain yield, ear lenght, ear diameter, thousand kernel weight on light soil texture were also significantly higher than heavy textured soil.
