An Overview of Pluralistic Extension Structure in Turkey
Abstract :
due to economic, social and politic developments, by reducing publicinfluence in agricultural extension systems, the pluralistic and cost sharingstructures have been established in some countries. The research wasconducted by interviewing with 250 extension workers from differentinstitutions such as farmer organizations, public and private sectors in Turkey. Some personal characteristics, target groups, the levels of actor linkages, andsome of the perceived organizational values were examined in the research.According to the institutions target groups, actor linkages and organizationalvalues were found at different levels. Actor linkages were not articulated at theintended level in Turkish extension system. While there was strongercooperation with farmers, linkages with research institutions were designatedas poor in the study. The low levels of perceived organizational values andmotivation lead to a low level adoption of extension advices in rural areas.
