Title Of Article :
Investigation on Meiotic Division of Herbicide Resistant and Sensitive Biotypes of Wild Oat (Avena sterilis L.)
Abstract :
Wild oat species, A. sterilis and A.fatua are the most important grass weeds in cereals fields. The use of the same mode of action of herbicides many time cause the appearance of herbicide resistant biotypes. The resistant biotypes of A. sterilis have also been identified in Turkey. In this study, the meiotic cell division and pollen fertility of resistant and susceptible biotypes of A. sterilis were investigated and compared. In both resistant and sensitive biotypes any abnormalities (chromosome bridge, asentric chromosomes, multi nuclei in tetrad, micropollen) were determined in the meiotic division. The size pollen of A. sterilis resistant and sensitive biotypes was similar and were found statistically in the same group. The pollen fertility was investigated and the pollens of each biotype were observed as fertile.
