Abstract :
In this study, it was aimed to determine pollen viability and germination ratios of 2 local genotypes and Diospyros lotus , which are used as pollenizers by persimmon producers in Hatay, and Ghora Gali and Shogatsu cultivars. In determination of pollen viability, 2, 3,5 Triphenly Tetrazolium Clorid (TTC) and Fluorescein diacetat (FDA) solutions were used. In establishing pollen germination, agar plate with 0, 5, 10, 15 and 20% sucrose + 0, 50 and 100 ppm boric acid were used. In the viability tests (TTC and FDA), Diospyros lotus had the highest rate of pollen viability (82.0% and 80.4%, respectively), and Shogatsu had the lowest rate of pollen viability (62.7% and 63.2%, respectively). Pollen germination of persimmon genotypes increased with the addition of boric acid in 0, 5 and 10% sucrose, but in 15 and 20% sucrose did not show an clearly effect. In general, pollen germination ratios of Ghora Gali and Diospyros lotus (38.3% and 37.8%, respectively) were higher than those of other genotypes (between 32.1% and 34.5%) according to the average doses of boric acid. In laboratory tests of pollen viability and germination, it was determined that the potential of these genotypes is satisfactory for a pollinizer.
