Comparison of Some Performance Characteristics for Naturally Mated and Artificially Inseminated Honey Bee Queen Bees
Abstract :
In the study, Aegean ecotype of Anatolian (Apis mellifera anatoliaca) honey bee colonies were used for queen and drone rearing. Two main groups were insemination, naturally mating, colony created by naturally mated and artificially inseminated queens obtained from performance. same honey bee queen and were compared with respect to same characteristics such as adult bees, brood rearing, aggressiveness, colony weight increases, wintering abilities and honey yield. A statistical difference between the performances of naturally mated and artificially inseminated honey bee queens was not observed (P 0.05).
