Title Of Article :
Is The Boron Uptake Affected When Sunflower (Helianthus annuus L.) Grown At Poly Culture Systems?
Abstract :
In this study, sunflower (Helianthus annuus L.) was growth alone and with wheat (Triticum aestivum L.) and clover plants (Medicago sativa L.). Boron at 25-50-75 mg L^-1 concentrations was applied by the foliarly in the forms of Boric acid (H3BO3). Following the yield, dry and fresh weights, chlorophyll, carotenoid and prolin contents was determined. B, Ca, K and P contents on the leaves were also determined. While total chlorophyll and carotenoid contents with DW% on the leaves of the sunflower planted monoculture system generally decreased, the same parmeters increased at the poly-culture system planting. EC% and prolin contents on the leaves increased at monoculture planting but they decreased on the ones planted with wheat and clover together. When it comes to boron content; it seriously decreased when it was planted with wheat and clover but some macro elements increased. Finally, if the sunflower grows as polyculture system with the different higher plants, boron uptake decrease so it prevents some problems caused by boron toxicity.
