Abstract :
The spatial and spectral resolutions of satellite imaging systems have increased rapidly in recent years. This rapid development makes satellite images more useful for agricultural purposes and data accuracy. In general visible and near-infrared (NIR) wavelength portions of the electromagnetic spectrum are used in remote sensing in agricultural studies. Hoewever, it is expected that the use of Rededge(RE) energy will make valuable contribution to crop pattern defining and yield estimation studies at the cultivated areas. In this research, the contributions of the RE band uses were examined in the cotton yield estimation studies. Rapideye images, were used together with the annual yield information collected from the fields studies during the years 2010-2014. In this way, effects of changing planting times, phenological duration and different climatic conditions to reflectance and yield were considered. The research results showed that there is a linear relation between NIR reflection data and the cotton yield (R^2=0,64 - 0,73). Similarly, a statistically significant linear relation between RE band reflection data and the yield was also found (R^2=0,62 - 0,85). As a result, additional RE spectral data using together with NIR data can increase accuracy of the cotton yield estimation and can give more reliable results instead of using NIR reflection data alone.
