Title Of Article :
Determination of Natural Radioactivity in the İzmir-Urla District Agricultural Soils
Abstract :
the Earth itself is a source of terrestrial radiation. Uranium, thorium, and their decay products from the most important terrestrial radiation sources are found everywhere. The dose from terrestrial sources also varies in different parts of the world. Locations with higher concentrations of uranium and thorium in their soil have higher dose levels. Therefore, it should be taken of the necessary measures and determining of radiation levels in soils. In this study, it has been aimed to determine of natural radiation levels in the soils of İzmir- Urla region. Gama radiation analysis in the collected soils were measured by using NaI (Tl) detector system. According to the results obtained, activity concentrations of soils are found to be within 12.2-38.8 Bq kg^−1 for 226Ra, 16.0-37.3 Bq kg^−1 for 232Th and 251.3-767.2 Bq kg^−1 for 40K. The results were compared with the standard values.
