A Research on Analysis of Non-Wood Forest Products Consumption in Urban Area of Izmir
Abstract :
The main aim of this study is to analyze consumption structure, consumer trends and preferences with data obtained from the surveys carried out in the households in urban part of Izmir intended for non-wood forest products (NWFP). For this purpose, 96 surveys have been carried out with households in Karsiyaka. As a result of the research, a large part of households, does not recognize NWFP under the name. Due to the fact that these products can be obtained without ingredient in its natural environment, these are delicious and aromatic foods, and their characteristics show protective and immune system booster, these products are preferred. In consequence of correct determination of consumer population with crop production preferred by the customers as kind, quantity and shape the process from production to marketing for the effectiveness and sustainability will be provided.
