Abstract :
in the last 50 years, food safety as well as safe food supply became of vital importance due to intensive industrialization and due to population increase. To cover the food requirements, modern agricultural techniques developed. However, misuses and mismanagements in this regard resulted in with hazards and pollutions in the natural resources like the soil, water and air. With this objective, a pot experiment was established to study the effect of soil texture and different plants on the heavy metal adsorption by different clay types and heavy metal absorption by the plants. Clayey and sandy clay loam soils were placed in the pots and sunflower and lucerne seeds were sown. Two different doses of Pb, Cd and Cr heavy metals were applied to the pots. Laboratory results showed that the clayey soil with high smectite clay adsorbed the heavy metals more than the sandy clay loam soil. Results also showed that lucerne absorbed more heavy metals than the sunflower.
