Title Of Article :
Effects of Different Harvest Dates and Mixture Rates on the Yield and some Silage Quality Characteristics of Legume Mixtures with Annual Ryegrass (Lolium multiflorum L.)
Abstract :
this study was executed in order to determine the effects of different harvest dates (early spring; the last week of March, mid spring; second week of April and late spring; last week of April) and various mixture rates (mixture of annual ryegrass + legume; 100+0%, 80+20%, 60+40%, 40+60%, 20+80% and 0+100%, respectively) of some annual legumes (Vicia sativa, Lathyrus sativus and Pisum arvense) with annual ryegrass grown as winter second crop on the dry matter yield and some silage parameters on Bornova experimental fields of Faculty of Agriculture in Ege University during the years of 2012-2014. According to 2 years average delaying harvest dates increased plant height, dry matter yield, NDF and ADF but decreased crude protein content and grass ratio in mixture. Higher legume ratio in the mixture increased dry matter yield and crude protein content. Common vetch or hairy vetch with annual ryegrass were the best alternatives with regard to yield and quality characteristics in the region under Mediterranean climatic conditions.
