Abstract :
Urachal diseases are congenital abnormalities which occur because of a continued fetal connection between the bladder and the umbilicus or a partial re-opening, and they are rarely seen in adults. When left untreated, they may become infected and carcinoma may develop at an advanced stage. The case is here presented of a 39-year old female with an infected urachal cyst. The patient presented with complaints of abdominal pain and navel discharge. Examination revealed sensitivity in the periumbilical region, swelling, redness of the skin over the swelling and purulent discharge. With clinical, abdominal ultrasonography and computed tomography findings consistent with infected urachal cyst rupture, the diagnosis was made and total surgical cyst excision was applied.
