Organizational Commitment Levels of Elementary School Teachers
Abstract :
The purpose of this study is to determine organizational commitment levels of elementary school teachers. The sample of the study consists of 353 teachers working for elementary schools during 2009-2010 academic year in İzmir. To collect data, “TCM Employee Commitment Survey” developed by Meyer, Allen and Smith (1993), was used. In this study, commitment levels of elementary school teachers were studied by dividing organizational commitment into such dimensions as affective commitment, continuance commitment, normative commitment. Also, it was investigated whether the variables of gender, marital status, age, teaching subject, work experience, present school experience and union membership would cause a significant difference in organizational commitment levels of teachers. According to the results of the data analysis, it has been found out that the teachers show affective commitment most.
