Abstract
The purpose of the study is to determine prospective mathematics teachers’ criteria of dimension. Participants were 2nd, 3rd, 4th year and master students in mathematics education department. Familiar geometric objects were given the students and asked to decide the dimension of these objects. Besides, the question “how do you decide the dimension of a given geometric object” was used to determine their criteria of dimension. The quantitative data were tabulated by using frequency and percentage, the method of descriptive analysis was used for the open-ended question. The results indicated that the students used the criteria of area-volume, number of axis, length-width-height and plane-space position in general and also wide range of criteria of one and two dimension.
