Abstract :
In this study, the relationship of bone mineral density (BMD) with height, weight, age with sporting activities and the influence of sport branches (volleyball, basketball, football, handball) on BMD is intended to be exposed. Research group is formed by a total of 100 students (20 inactive people, 20 volleyball, 20 basketball, 20 football, 20 handball players) between the ages of 15-18 who study in the province of Van. BMD of the subjects is measured by a DEXA device. Moreover, heights and weights of the subjects are measured. These data are transferred to a computer by one-way ANOVA and LSD tests were performed using the statistical analysis. At the end of the study, there seems a significant relationship between the values of lumbar spine (L1-L4) bone mineral density and physical activity, height, body weight and age at (p 0.01). It is determined that people who sport have almost 17 % more BMD values than the ones who do not make exercise. In the sport branches included in the study, It is observed that there is only significant difference at the level of (p 0.05) between the people who play handball and volleyball but there is no significant difference between other branches.
