Abstract :
In this paper, by exploiting the studies of Giddens, how people, living in modern societies, give shape and meaning to their self-identity will be analyzed through man and woman life-style magazines. Through this theoretical route, another sociologist’s, David Gauntlett’s, Media, Gender and Identity: An Introduction will be evaluated. To do this, after a brief introduction to the basic notions of Giddens’s sociology, the focus will be on Gauntlett’s study on man and woman magazines.
