THE PROBLEM OF LEADER HEGEMONY IN POLITICAL PARTIES AND CHANGING OF LEADER IN TURKEY IN THE CONTEXT OF DEMOCRATIZATION AND FORMING AN EFFECTIVE POLITICAL SYSTEM
Abstract :
In Turkey, leaders of political parties have always loomed large both in the founding of the party through their charisma and in the political impact of the party during political struggle. It has always been mentioned that the hegemony of leaders in party is a critical problem. For instance, in 50 years after starting the multiparty system in Turkey there has been no change of party leaders through elections in party except one or two political parties. It is a fact that to discuss the leader’s position or the way to change leader has always been a taboo. No matter what the degree or accuracy of the legal measures have been, it would be unavoidable to encounter with obstacles while trying to surmount the hegemony problem without any development in cultural and mental level.
