Abstract
In this study applicability of the dye obtained from Ceroplastes rusci L. (Hemiptera: Coccidae) shelled females by extraction methods used in ancient times as textile dye was investigated. Shelled females collected from fig trees were air dried, triturated with water and boiled. Samples had Pantone 19-1760 Scarlet TC according to Pantone TCX Color at the end of the process. Raw cloth pieces were painted with boiling samples of shelled females having Scarlet TC color. The final color of the cloth pieces were Pantone 16-1529 Burnt Coral. No color migration was observed during the washing of clothes. As a result, the dye obtained from C. rusci shelled females can be utilized in painting of the organic textiles.
