A SURVEY OF OWNERSHIP STRUCTURE ON THE PERFORMANCE OF THE FIRMS: AN APPLICATION ON THE PRODUCTION SECTOR AT BIST

The aim of this study is to measure the effect of ownership structure on the performance of the firms at BIST. In the study, 135 firms working at production sector have been examined between the years 2009 – 2012 at BIST. The effect of ownership structure on the performance of the firm have been measured by using financial ratios. The partner who has the highest amount of share and the second highest amount of share and the free float ratio have been determined as an ownership structure variables of firms. At the end of the study, while the ownership structure of the firms have an implicit positive effect on asset turnover, current ratio, equity turnover, and Tobin q ratio, a negative effect has occurred on the ratio of price – profit.
