A THEORETICAL RESEARCH OF WHISTLEBLOWING BEHAVIOR FOR EVALUATION IN CONTEXT OF PROSOCIAL BEHAVIORS
Abstract :
Whistleblowing is expressed that disclosure of organizational misconduct where he/she experience or observed of organization member to the within or outside persons or institutions which have authority and stopping strength of these misconducts. Prosocial behaviors are the behaviors of when organization member are performed of organizational role towards whom one interacts and making for their benefits. In this study, it is evaluated that whistleblowing behavior could accepted a prosocial behavior or not. In the study, descriptions about whistleblowing and whistleblowers firstly take place. Finally, whistleblowing was evaluated in terms of prosocial behaviors.According to this, the most significant point for accepting whistleblowing as PB is motivation that starting to move whistleblower. Motivations caused to whistleblowing were determined as ethical and moral reasons, legal obligations, personal interest, altruism, state interest and organization interest. The other point at whistleblowing accepted as PB is result of whistleblowing. If the whistleblowing caused a positive result for anyone s interest that interacting parts, it could be as PB.
