Abstract :
The departure point for the study is the thesis of the prominent name of French aesthetics history, Taine, who claims that the artworks created by either an artist or a nation are products of folk, climate, environmental and historical circumstances and religious belief.The Turks’ racial and communal characteristics, and their art and culture formed by the geography is examined in the article. In the chapter about racial chracteristics, the Turks’ physical appearance and the definitions used by others to describe them are explained. In the chapter about communal chracteristics, the traditions, the family structure and the behaviour in communicating to other communities. In the most emphasized geographical region, the settlement areas since the Proto-Turks were mentioned. The impression of the step life on art products, some motifs as well as Hun, Göktürk and Uyghur art is reviewed through the article.
