THE AREAL DEVELOPMENT ANALYSIS OF ELAZIĞ CITY ACCORDING TO THE GOOGLE EARTH (2003-2015) DATA

The city of Elazığ has a settlement history in excess of one century. The city that grows fast since its inception, showed 32 % areal development between the years of 2003-2015. Urban quality preferred by society, besides supporting as a national economic policy of the construction industry in the development of Elazığ have significant effects. Urban migration has been influential on the population growth rate of the new residential area in the city. In this context, the aim of this study is to handle the development process of the city of Elazığ in recent years and to explain the reasons. This study is based on current and archival footage of the Google Earth program. The earliest Google Earth data which belong to the city of Elazığ was recorded in 2003, and the most recent data were in 2015. The Google Earth data provide significant opportunities in the evaluation as detailed of quality and quantity of the near-term urban development.
